Co-SPACE study: How are families are coping with the challenges of COVID-19?

The Emerging Minds network have developed a new study to help understand how families are coping during the Covid-19 pandemic and what parents can do to help support their children’s mental health. Parents and carers were involved in advising on the rapid development of this study.

The Co-SPACE study is looking for UK parents or carers of a child in school year 0-11 (foundation/reception to the end of GCSEs) to take part in an initial 15-20 minute survey now then some shorter 10 minute follow up surveys at later times (weekly, fortnightly, then monthly, or when Government advices changes) until children and young people are back in school.

Yasmeen, a parent advisor and final year psychology with sociology undergraduate student who contributed to the development of the study said:

This is a highly relevant study. It was amazing that the study was put together so quickly but also to such a high quality. As both a parent and researcher I could see the study and make points from both sides. All my points were taken on board and my perspectives helped shape the study design. It is really important that this study is developed with the views and opinions of the people that it is aimed at in mind.
