Our second talk on the Open Science theme was by Dr Tamarinde Haven.
Tamarinde continued our series of talks introducing preregistrations for qualitative research. It was fascinating to hear how an approach developed for and typically limited to quantitative research could be applied to qualitative studies.
Her talk last December was especially timely, as her paper “Preregistering Qualitative Research: A Delphi Study” was published the week of the event. You can also check out her earlier paper “preregistering qualitative research”.
The key take-home: preregistration in qualitative work can usefully increase the transparency and credibility of qualitative research. It also helps to retain the flexibility and subjectivity that qualitative research embraces.
