Big Question Research Challenge (closed)h

In 2021/22, Emerging Minds are focusing particularly on their ‘Big Question Research challenge’ which was identified as a priority in our original consultation workshops with stakeholders.

In particular, they will be aiming to encourage and support the network to answer the following research questions:

  • Why even when we know ‘what works’ isn’t this necessarily implemented in policy and practice?
  • How do we improve evidence-based decision making? E.g.: How can we successfully inform commissioning decisions and policy-making and how can we ultimately increase implementation of research into practice?

Visit their website here for further info and how to apply

Final application deadline 16 December. Catch up on their information webinar for the third funding call here.

Previous funding calls

In 2021 the Emerging Minds Network are focusing particularly on our ‘Voices, Power & Attitudes’ research challenge which was identified as a priority in our original consultation workshops with stakeholders.

They were inviting research proposals addressing the following questions:

    1. How does racism affect children and young people’s mental health in the United Kingdom?
    2. How can racism be addressed in ways that will benefit children and young people’s mental health?

Funded projects will need to be delivered within 12 months beginning by September 2021 and completed by September 2022 at the latest.

The total funding available that the network anticipates sharing in this funding call is £70,000 across one or two projects.

They want to fund projects which are collaborations across disciplines and sectors and strongly encourage collaborations with the voluntary and community sector and/ or lived experience led groups.

For more information head to the Emerging Minds website here. There is a virtual information session on this funding call on the 23rd of March.

Previous funding calls

The Emerging Minds network’s first funding call has now closed. This call focused on addressing research challenges of embracing complexity, voices power and attitude, and supporting supporters. Emerging Minds will announce their final call in 2021 on the big question: How do we implement effective promotion of good mental health, prevention and early treatment for mental health problems at scale amongst children and young people?

You can find out more about the research funded from the first call here.
